However this tool is mostly used for keeping your Rigs up to date. The tool is located in the Rig Converter Panel. It shows up when you active Object is an Armature. Depending on the Armature type the panel may have different looks. Following scenarios are supported<\/p>\n<h2>The Transfer scenarios<\/h2>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"span6 rhcol\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Update<\/span> your older Avastar projects to use the newest Avastar version.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Convert<\/span> a project that was made for the simple SL Rig (like for example the Avatar Workbench or avatar.blend)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Import<\/span> Developerkits (SDK&#8217;s) which are delivered as Collada files<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Copy<\/span> Information From one Rig to another<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class='et-box et-warning'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class='et-box-content'>This tool is not easy to use and you need a bit of patience to get it to work for your particular situation. Below you find a brief description of its features.<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"span6 rhcol\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6078 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/300\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Image914.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"311\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/300\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Image914.png 311w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/300\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Image914-194x300.png 194w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Preparations before updating a rig<\/h2>\n<p>Before you use the update tool, we recommend that you take care about the following things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always(!) make a backup of your blendfile<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your rig is in restpose<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your active action has no keyframes<\/li>\n<li>Always first try to not use the snowflake icon (see further down). Only when your rig deforms during the update, press CTRL-Z and try again with the snow flake icon enabled<\/li>\n<li>If ever possible set the sliders to white stickman mode before you do the update<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you can not set your rig as recommended above, then you might need to do this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Downgrade Avastar back to your previous version<\/li>\n<li>set the rig according to the recommendations:\n<ul>\n<li>set the rig to restpose<\/li>\n<li>empty the active action<\/li>\n<li>set the sliders to the white stickman mode<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Store the blend file<\/li>\n<li>Update Avastar to the newer release<\/li>\n<li>Do the Rig update<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If this still fails, then please talk to us.<\/p>\n    <h2>Scenario Details<\/h2>\n              <div class='mama-subpage tolightblue'>\n          <h3><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/300\/help\/n-panel\/avastar\/rig-inspector\/rig-update-tool\/update\/\">\n              Update              <\/a><\/h3>\n          <div class=\"row-fluid\">\n            <div class=\"rhcol span8\">\n              Migrate Rig to newest version When you open a Blend file that contains an older version of an Avastar Armature, then Avastar checks if the older rig is compatible with the current Avastar version.
