In particular you need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure the viewport is in Solid Shading mode<\/li>\n<li>The Mesh is selected and in Weight Paint Mode<\/li>\n<li>The Armature is selected in Pose Mode<\/li>\n<li>The Deform Bones and the Volume Bones are visible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have added a super convenient shortcut for you so you do not need to bother with this. Especially we recommend that you first weight your meshes to the SL Basic- and Extended- bones and do not touch the collision volume bones for the begin. In that case it is straight forward to use the Fitting Panel.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>But if your meshes already have Fitting bone weights defined (for example after a copy weights from other meshes operation), then you get a popup text with a warning and a confirm button. Be aware that your weights will be altered when you proceed! Take this serious! If you are sure to lose the current weights on the collision volume bones, then confirm the initialization.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise this panel is not made for your tasks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1265.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7159 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1265.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1265.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1265-300x256.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Important:<\/strong> <\/span>You never want to edit the weights of meshes from a Developer kit model, unless you are the creator.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>So, when the fitting sliders are enabled&#8230;<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>The top of the Fitting Panel is the control section. Here you find a Preset selection and some physic related operators. We will get back to this section later.<\/p>\n<p>For now you only need to remember the option <em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Apply immediately<\/span><\/em> which takes care that all your changes in the slider settings are immediately propagated to the mesh and displayed in the 3D Viewport. See below for more details.<\/p>\n<p>For now please keep the settings as they are until we refer to them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1266.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-7192 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1266.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1266.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1266-300x226.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>The Slider section<\/h3>\n<p>The strength Sliders move your weight values of each fitting pair (see above) between the deform bone and the corresponding collision volume.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Slider \u2013 Left: (Slider value 0.0) All weight is on the deform bone<\/li>\n<li>Slider \u2013 Right: (Slider value 1.0) All weight is on the collision volume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Note:<\/span><\/strong> For huge meshes (with many thousands of polygons) you may see a significant delay when you move the sliders. This is because the fitting system needs a lot of computer power. In that case it may be helpful to disable the <em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Apply immediately<\/span><\/em> option (see above) and use ALT-Q instead whenever you want to get your changes applied to the mesh shape.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Remember:<\/span><\/strong> If you want to always see immediately how the slider changes affect the shape, you need to make sure the option <em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Apply immediately<\/span><\/em> is enabled.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>At the top of the Slider section you find 3 filter buttons for restricting the Display to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Selected<\/span> Fitting Bones<\/li>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Weighted<\/span> Fitting Bones<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">All<\/span> Fitting Bones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Normally you want to keep with the default setting (Weighted Fitting Bones) to keep the panel clean and organized.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1270.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7194\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1270.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1270.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1270-300x226.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>The next section contains the Fitted Mesh sliders. these sliders are used to distribute weight between the mBones (value:0.0) and the Volume Bones (value:1.0).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Remember:<\/span><\/strong> These sliders work in combination with the Avatar Shape Sliders. If your Shape is in Restpose (or Bindpose) then you do not see any immediate changes of the mesh shape!<\/p>\n<p>Right to each slider you find 2 &#8211; by default empty &#8211; columns&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1277.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7196\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1277.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1277.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1277-300x226.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>The first field is a bone selector. When you click on an empty field, then<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The field changes to show the orange bone icon.<\/li>\n<li>In the 3D Viewport the Deform bone is selected.<\/li>\n<li>The corresponding weight map is shown on the mesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you click a second time, the bone selector switches from the Volume bone to the corresponding SL Bone (shown in blue)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1271.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7165\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1271.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1271.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1271-300x259.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span12\">\n<p>the second field is used to mark edited weight maps and reset them back. We will get to this in\u00a0 the next document (Edit mode)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>the entries in the list are sliders. You can change each slider value from 0.0 to 1.0 by click drag the mouse, or by directly entering values with the keyboard.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Note:<\/span><\/strong> make sure that symmetric bones get the same slider values. But the model does not show any difference&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The reason for this is very obvious. And still the question shows up and even experienced users occasionally step into this pitfall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1274.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7172\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1274.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1274.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1274-300x261.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>Here is what is going on:<\/p>\n<p>By default all Shape sliders for the fitted Mesh bones are in a neutral position. Because of this the weights do not change the shape.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to test your weight changes, then you must also add values to the <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Shape Sliders!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>for example when turning up the Shape Slider for Belly Size (in the Shape Panel), then the fitted mesh begins to react on the slider changes as well (when it has weight on the volume bone).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1275.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7173\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1275.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"364\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1275.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1275-300x261.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>The Presets<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>You find the Presets at the top of the Fitting Panel. These presets contain sets of predefined values for the Fitting sliders. Here you can set up your own Presets (click the &#8216;+&#8217; button to add the current setting as a new preset).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1273.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7167\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1273.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1273.png 419w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/293\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Image1273-300x256.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Avastar comes with 3 very basic presets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully Classic: No weights on the Fitted Mesh Bones (all sliders at 0)<\/li>\n<li>Fully Fitted: No weights on the Classic Bones (all sliders at 1)<\/li>\n<li>Half way: Weights evenly distributed (all sliders at 0.5)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>these Presets are not much more than demo presets. They only define reasonable starting points for your own fittings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Note:<\/span><\/strong> The Presets also contain settings for the Physics sliders.
