We are still working on this.<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Collada for Blender 2.80<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Since today (may-24 2019) the Blender 2.80 native Collada Exporter can export models for Secondlife even when they are made in Blender&#8217;s orientation (looking forward towards negative Y). This new Blender capability can also be used for direct exporting of Avastar models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">This article describes briefly how you can make use of the new Blender 2.80 feature right away.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800080;\">A little gotcha<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">This feature was brought to Blender by the Machinimatrix. In particular our aim was to make Blender&#8217;s exporter more general so that we can use it as replacement for Avastar&#8217;s own Collada exporter. Mischief accomplished.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a style=\"color: #800080;\" href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-001.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5150\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-001.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"415\" height=\"664\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-001.png 415w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-001-188x300.png 188w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 415px) 100vw, 415px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #800080;\">But please keep in mind<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Although you now can export old Avastar models with the Blender collada exporter, we soon will have Avastar for Blender 2.80 and we are sure you will like it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The Preconditions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You have a blend file that contains a rigged mesh that was already created with Avastar 2.5 or newer.<\/li>\n<li>You have installed a Blender 2.80 beta from 24-may-2019 or newer from Blender&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/builder.blender.org\/download\/\">experimental build page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You are willing to tell us when anything goes wrong, so we can fix bugs before Blender 2.80 is released.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Get blend file from an Avastar Project<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<ul>\n<li>Open Blender 2.80<\/li>\n<li>Open your Avastar Blend file<\/li>\n<li>Select the meshes which you want to export<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Tip:<\/span><\/strong> Make sure your meshes have no Object rotation. Otherwise you may later see a warning from the SL importer about non standard bind shape orientation. Fix by calling Object -&gt; Apply -&gt; Rotation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-002.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5152\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-002.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"697\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-002.png 697w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/28-002-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Export with the new Blender Collada exporter<\/h3>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<ul>\n<li>File -&gt; Export -&gt; Collada (Blender)<\/li>\n<li>From the preset selector choose <em>SL + Open Sim Rigged<\/em><\/li>\n<li>in the Main tab of the Exporter panel select:\n<ul>\n<li>-X forward<\/li>\n<li>Z Upward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that <em>Apply Global Orientation<\/em> is enabled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now you can export the mesh<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Tip:<\/span> <\/strong>This works only when the rig is oriented with the model looking towards you when in front view (like it is the case for the Avastar Rig)<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Tip:<\/span> <\/strong>If your model looks towards positive X instead (after all rotations have been applied), then you are already in SL orientation.
