But despite our attempt to make things easy, sometimes things go wrong. This Guide is a collection of Issues which have been reported by others. Ok, we have only one issue by now, but we add them as they get reported.<\/div>\n<div class=\"span6 rhcol\"><div class=\"symple-box  green center \" style=\"text-align:center;width: 50%;\"> Don&#8217;t Panic. Your problem can be fixed.<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"symple-toggle state-closed \"><h3 class=\"symple-toggle-trigger \">DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application<\/h3><div class=\"symple-toggle-container symple-clearfix\">\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"rhcol span7\">\n<p>This happens on Windows when your Blender Application Data folder is corrupted. We never found a good reason for when this happens, but it does happen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rhcol span5\"><div class=\"symple-box  yellow center \" style=\"text-align:left;\"> <strong>Note<\/strong>: This issue is also documented in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blender.org\/manual\/troubleshooting\/python.html#mixed-python-libraries-dll-s\">Blender manual<\/a><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Fix<\/h4>\n<p>Clean up your Application Data. You find the data here:<\/p>\n<pre>C:\\Users\\&lt;username&gt;\\AppData\\Roaming\\Blender Foundation\\Blender\\&lt;release&gt;<\/pre>\n<h4>Details<\/h4>\n<p>Sometimes another Add-on installation pollutes the Application data folder with scripts and libraries from older blender versions. This can easily make it impossible to install another Add-on. We ensure that our Add-ons never creates such sort of pollution. And here is how you can get out of this issue:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Locate the Blender Application data folder (see above)<\/li>\n<li>within the folder locate the subfolder that is named like your Blender release, for example:\n<pre><em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"> Blender Foundation\\blender\\2.77<\/span><\/em><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>rename this folder to something like\n<pre><em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"> Blender Foundation\\blender\\2.77_hide<\/span><\/em><\/pre>\n<p>Note: The name is not important, use whatever is convenient for you. You even can delete the folder if you like, but see below!<\/li>\n<li>Now restart Blender<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This will cleanup your application data folder. But take care! This resets blender to its Factory settings. Any other Add-on that you have installed is no longer visible and you need to install them again. However you can use the hidden subfolder ( <em><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">2.77_hide<\/span><\/em> in my example) to recreate your installation. Although in most cases it seems easier to install all of your Add-ons again.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"symple-toggle state-closed \"><h3 class=\"symple-toggle-trigger \">When the update fails<\/h3><div class=\"symple-toggle-container symple-clearfix\">\n<p>When you update an Add-on in Blender, then normally the following steps are performed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The installer disables the current version of the Add-on.<\/li>\n<li>The disabled Add-on is removed from the system (deleted from disk),<\/li>\n<li>The new Add-on version is installed.<\/li>\n<li>You now can enable the new version manually<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>However sometimes the first step (disabling the Add-on) does not disable all of the software. So it may happen that the old Add-on leaves some traces which may result in subsequent errors when the new version is enabled in step 4.<\/p>\n<p>When the above situation happens to you, then please proceed as follows:<\/p>\n<h4>Step 0: Remove traces<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Save User Setting at the bottom of the User Preferences Panel:<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.machinimatrix.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/remove_02.png\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5569\" src=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/remove_02-300x163.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/remove_02-300x163.png 300w, https:\/\/avalab.org\/avastar\/279\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/remove_02.png 378w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Then close Blender<br \/>\nIt is important that you really close blender.<br \/>\nOpening a new scene or pressing F8 are not enough!<\/li>\n<li>Open Blender and open the User preferences again<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8220;Avastar&#8221; into the Add-on search field to locate your Add-on<\/li>\n<li>Then Enable the Add-on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In most cases this is all that you need to do. So to ensure that your computer does not unzip the file after download, please review your browser settings.<\/p>\n<div class=\"symple-box  blue center \" style=\"text-align:left;\"> We suggest that you set your Browser to always ask you where to download, so you can specify where the zip file shall be placed. There is a reason. Here is the explanation:<\/p>\n<p><strong>avastar-M-m-rrrr_blender-B-bb.zip<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>avastar<\/strong>: the product name<\/li>\n<li><strong>M<\/strong>: The major product release<\/li>\n<li><strong>m<\/strong>: The minor product release<\/li>\n<li><strong>rrrr<\/strong>: The product revision number<\/li>\n<li><strong>B-bb<\/strong>: The earliest version of blender supported by this particular Add-on version<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Usually you are safe to download the zip file with the highest available product revision number.<\/p>\n<p>Only if you encounter a bug in Avastar you should consider to switch back to an older Avastar release by installing that over your current release. There is no need to uninstall first!<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h3><i class=\"fa fa-battery-2\"><\/i> Install<\/h3>\n<p>We expect that you have successfully installed Blender and Blender works properly.
